The Institute for Responsible Citizenship

Support a Scholar

Your gift prepares a young man
for a life of consequence.

For twenty years, the Institute has been sustained by a quiet community of donors who believe that extraordinary young men — in every community of this country — deserve the apprenticeship that builds exemplary lives.

Why Give

Scholars pay nothing.
Everything is underwritten by people who believe in them.

The program is free of tuition, free of housing fees, free of the quiet costs — meals, transit, books — that often keep talented young men out of rooms where their future is decided.

Every element of that preparation comes from donors like you. A gift of any size joins a two-decade tradition of quiet investors who have produced Rhodes Scholars, federal judges, research physicians, and community leaders.

Give what is meaningful to you. We will steward it with the same seriousness we bring to the scholars themselves.

Make Your Gift

Give in a way that's meaningful to you.

Every gift — of any size — directly supports the preparation of the next class of scholars.

Give now

Giving is handled securely by Blackbaud eTapestry. You'll complete your gift in a new tab and return here when you're done.

The Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Your gift is tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.

Where Your Gift Goes

Every gift has a scholar behind it.

Donors may direct their contributions to any of the areas below, or give 'where needed most' and trust the Institute to allocate it toward the greatest current need.

Many employers match charitable contributions — sometimes at two or three times the original gift. The Institute is eligible for most corporate matching programs. Check with your employer's HR or philanthropy office.

Host a scholar as an intern

Instead of (or alongside) a financial gift, consider hosting a Washington Scholar for a paid summer internship at your organization. The Institute handles placement and support.
